Two Days Out with Baby: Orchard & Punggol Edition

Weekend Well Spent!

Last weekend, we took our baby out to Takashimaya for a bit of window shopping. Since we live along the North-East Line (the purple one), we hopped off at Dhoby Ghaut first, then transferred to the North-South Line (the red one) to get to Orchard.

We made a quick stop at ION Orchard to check out Lovet, a clothing store I've been wanting to visit. Sadly, the queue for the fitting rooms was way too long, and my baby was still napping in the carrier, so trying anything on had to wait for another day 😓

Lunch, Naps, and Pastries

Before heading over to Orchard, we grabbed lunch and let the baby nap first before continuing the journey. About an hour and a half later, she woke up refreshed, so we swung by Bengawan Solo for some pastries. We picked up a Pandan Chiffon cake — her absolute favourite — and some Kueh Lapis, then sat down for a little snack break. She managed a full slice of the chiffon cake and half a carton of fresh milk. I treated myself to that famous ice cream stall near Takashimaya too — you know the one.

Exploring Takashimaya

Once inside, we headed straight up to the 4th floor for the kids' section, browsing through clothes, shoes, and toys. This was clearly the highlight of her day — she lit up at the toy displays, happily playing with a mini piano, some toy cars, and even spotted a Godzilla figure and a whole display of Sylvanian Families. Toddlers really do know how to enjoy the little things.

For dinner, we headed up to the 5th floor for sushi. Our little one worked her way through grilled fish, chawanmushi, miso soup, and shishamo — quite the seafood feast for a toddler! After that, it was time to head home and call it a day.

Day Two: Punggol Waterway Point

The next day was a lot more low-key. I cooked lunch at home, and once my baby dozed off in the carrier, we made our way to Punggol Waterway Point. She only napped for 48 minutes this time, but somehow still had energy to spare!

We picked up some sweet potato from Don Don Donki and grabbed drinks from Chagee (my go-to, always 👊). We found a spot on the lawn outside Waterway Point, near the Chagee outlet, and settled in for a snack while letting her toddle around and burn off some of that energy. After that, we squeezed in a quick grocery run before heading home.

For dinner, we kept it simple with a visit to Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine at the mall nearby, then headed home and called it a night.

A simple, sweet weekend — good food, good walks, and a very happy toddler. Can't ask for much more than that. 💛
